What is the PlayLad Project?

Welcome to the PlayLad Project website, home base for my net-venture into the history of a now defunct, mostly forgotten gaming company from the mid-90s.

PlayLab was an American video game company specializing in consoles, games and peripherals meant to improve users’ mental health. Established in 1995 as an offshoot of the psychological research corporation PsyLabs Inc., PlayLab used data collected by its parent company to develop its products.

From their shady parent company to their various shitty 'mental wellness' products to their weirdest creation, the PlayLab Notomo, I'll try to cover it all here along with asides about my personal history with PlayLab and the details of my ongoing search for more info. I know I'm not the only one who cares enough about this to want to slog through all this garbage, so if you're here for the ride, welcome. For now this is mostly just a way to keep all my thoughts in one place. I hope it can help someone eventually.
